Study

Why We Built LLQP Canada

We built LLQP Canada because the existing resources are confusing, contradictory, and often out of date. The regulators are accurate but written like statute. The course providers are selling something. Forums are anecdotes. Everywhere else, the spelling, the dollar figures, and half the laws are American.

This site is different in three ways. Every word is Canadian – Canadian regulators, Canadian dollars, Canadian spelling. Every page is written or reviewed by a licensed advisor who has been through the LLQP. And every page is rewritten every six months so the cost figures, pass-rate data, and provincial rules stay accurate.

The common questions every LLQP candidate asks first.

The LLQP is fair. Roughly two-thirds of first-time candidates pass each module. Most of the people who fail studied passively — re-reading the textbook instead of doing active recall and practice questions. With 80 to 120 hours of structured study, most candidates pass on the first attempt.

Six to twelve weeks of study is typical for someone working full-time. After you pass, plan another two to six weeks for your provincial application, sponsorship, and E&O insurance. Two to six months is realistic, start to first commission.

Course fees run about $330 to $550 depending on provider and format. Exam fees are $120 to $180 per module attempt depending on province. Provincial licensing application fees add another $50 to $200. Total realistic cost is $600 to $1,100 from zero to licensed.

No. There is no education requirement. You need to be at least 18, eligible to work in Canada, and able to pass a criminal record check. Permanent residents are fully eligible.

Most provinces require sponsorship for licensing, not for the exam. You can take the course and write the exam first. We will help you secure sponsorship as soon as you pass — that is one of the things an independent brokerage does well.
